Pencil Drawings
For most artists, actually, for most human beings, their first art is created with a pencil. Probably just a standard number 2 school pencil. We first begin to express ourselves with that graphite, dealing with the smudges or simply ignoring them. It may just be a stick figure, or a line drawing, but for some of us, those early attempts give way to fully shaded representations. The simplicity of a pencil. And yet, the elegance of a well-drawn picture.
My ventures into the world of pencil include not only graphite drawings, but also colored pencil. The layering and blending of color up on color, sometimes with the added tones of a nice colored paper, creates a feast for the eye.
